modpost check! [20 Feb 2007|12:12am]

[ mood | cheerful ]

Hey guys! Your friendly absent mod here!

This community has been somewhat dead of late, so I've decided to re energize it. I'm back :D Tell your friends. After all, I know there are a lot more of us in the Big Apple.

So, to get the ball rolling, I'm sure most of you know that about a week ago and some change, there was the big Dir En Grey concert. How was it for most of you? I know I got smoshed against about a million people and stepped on repeatedly, but it was still insanely fun!

Share your experiences, and hopefully, pictures as well, since unfortunately, your poor mod has no camera, ;___;

As for events coming up, as most of you know, Tainted Reality is hosting the Blood concert soon, I believe the actual concert date is March 10th. Also, on May 17th,Candy Spooky Theatre is playing at the Knitting Factory! This year is an awesome year for jrock ;3

NYC/ NJ Gothic Lolita/ DIY PUNK/ JROCK fashionistas UNITE! [19 Jul 2006|11:36am]

Greetings everyone!

I am not necessarily a newbie to the Gothic lolita/ DIY punk scene, but I would love to get to know everyone.

I originally posted this on a myspace group, and I haven't really gotten any strong responses....please read on, and please, please feel free to contact me!

607 339 1655

My friends and I have finalized the date of our Gothic Lolita Romp and Tea Party.
If you haven't seen previous bulletins of this, please forgive me. The model we are seeking to imitate is that of the Harajuku, meet+greet. We simply want to take pictures, hang out, and share our passion/ interest in an atmosphere where we can openly visually shock individuals who are not acquainted with this particular fashion.

It will be this Saturday, the 22nd @ 1pm, Union Square Park Entrance (the entrance facing Virgin records and the beginning of Broadway) I have chosen this spot because it is easily accessible by various trains-4,5,6,L,N,R, etc. If you need help navigating yourself to this location, or, if you have no idea what the hell, or where the hell it is, please don't hesitate to contact me.(see contact info below)

As I've posted in my previous bulletin, www.lietv.com (at the Latest Issue East side) will be covering us. They plan to have a modeling/informational, and we'd love to have long time veterans and newbies (heh, I'm a noobie) of the gothic lolita/ DIY punk scene come join us, and share your knowledge of this awesome, awesome, spectacular fashion. We welcome everyone, this is not an exclusive event! BUT! The only requirement is that you must be in Gothic Lolita/ DIY punk attire. We are not restricting it to any brands (ie k-star, marjour) but if you've managed to make any, or find anything which closely resembles it, please, please, come join us!

I have not received any replies to this post, but if you would like to come share this awesome experience with us, you are most welcomed to join us! We welcome anyone who has fashioned to collect Gothic Lolita Items, and or DIY punk items.

Our meet up will simply be a nice get together and romp throughout these fine areas:

Union Square, 14th Street
Broadway (avenue hitting Chinatown)
St. Mark's Place
Chinatown (mayhaps)
and finally...
the Alice and Wonderland Statue of Central Park

We plan on having a tea party there...so the more merrier, the awesome! The basic idea is that we'll be walking from Union Square park, through the village, into Chinatown (oy, those 6 inch heels are going to be painful)

I am still open to any suggestions, so please, please, please let me know before this coming Wednesday. Please contact me at:

with your confirmation...I just need to have a good round-about number...

Thanks for reading this, and I'm really sorry if it has been annoying...

Alright you hidden lolitas, your chance to shine has come!!!

BIG LOLITA MEETUP in nyc~ No more excuses, lazy, apathetic ppl! XD

a collaboration between myself and egl's ugly_kitties and oshidori, a meetup/photoshoot has been planned for the date of November 13th.

However there is a bit of a disagreement with the location so we've decided to take a vote on it

Those who are interested, would you rather have it at the cloisters or St. John's Cathedral?

FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED, although if you want to bring some, thats fine too. we will be serving things like quiche, cakes, cookies, lemon bars, etc. :D so those interested, some feedback is needed!

There will be no real dresscode, but seeing as this is a lolita meetup...some form of lolita dress would be preferred...or at least a skirt and/or if your doing kodona, then pants. O__o just no jeans.

Despairs Ray in NYC/Double Decker [16 Oct 2005|10:30am]

[ mood | excited ]

Okay, another update from your moderator,

For those of you who live under a rock are unaware, Despairs Ray is coming to the East Coast as part of their Infectious Mania Tour.

Oct 29th- Double D's Club in NJ (a 21 and up event i think?)

October 30- Don Hill's Halloween Festival. You can buy tickets here.

I am as of yet not sure whether or not this is an all ages show, 18+ or 21+, however I have emailed the show coordinator and will get back to you all on this.

They were also previously scheduled to be playing at Albion, however that venue seems to be taken off the website, so I don't think that is happening anymore.

This is a great way to spend a Halloween, and an opportunity to support this great J-rock band, so get your halloween costumes ready! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Also! Since we all live in NY, if anyone is interested in doing a jointorder for Double Decker shoes, this would be the place to say so. Right now they've been having their 2 shoes/boots for 100 dollar deal.

Fellow Visualists!

For those of you who don't already know, doedeere, the founder of little big girls (those of you who love lolita will know what I'm talking about!) is having one of her parties on October 5th at the Knitting Factory.

If any of you can make it, its a wonderful oppourtunity to show off your fashion and makeup skills ~__^. The theme this year I believe is celebrity impersonation, so I think its okay to pull out that daisuke cosplay you've had stashed in your closet since that random con.

I will be attending, and this is just a heads up to see if anyone else was interested, if so this can sort of become a mini-meetup (yes i know, it's rather sudden considering when this community started, but this was meant to be a friendly community anyway, so might as well!)

Also, another project is a listing of stores in the NY/tristate that sell lolita/punk/v-kei clothing, and j-music CD's/merchandise or any of the sort that will help out people who are either just getting into the style or just listened to that Withering to Death CD for the first time on the Internet and are wondering "where the heck can I buy more of this?!",or for you who are just completely lost. I plan to post this up in the memories, so if you guys have that random store that you practically live in, share it with the rest of us~!

Yay! [22 Sep 2005|11:48pm]

[ mood | okay ]

Hi there~ I just found this community and really liked the idea. I'm Yadie, a 21yr old New Yorker, The Bronx to be exact (been with my gf for almost 3 years now :P) who's been into Japanese fashion/music/video games/almost everything for way too many years. I grew up watching anime (even though my interest in anime has really declined in recent years). I can't wait to see Nana (the movie based on Ai Yazawa's manga, for those who don't know :P) and the anime based on Paradise Kiss that will premiere next month (woot!).

And this is me;

I love meeting new people and making friends, I hope I'm not the oldest here either... :P
